Kora Mbemba is a STANDARD model with a SEWED skin finish

Much like the kora Douga and Banjul, the kora Mbemba is the result of an ‘artistic’ finish. It is designed for musicians seeking an instrument that stands out from the standard aesthetic with its unique decoration all while maintaining, as one would expect, the traditional structural and acoustic quality.

Although the skin-to-gourd stitching is primarily a decorative detail, I must say that this leather-cord finish typically results in a warmer acoustic. To be honest, I couldn’t tell you the exact technical reason why, but for some reason, koras with this specific finish tend to produce a very warm sound.
